Pickles!
Posted on July 29th, 2009 @ 7:49 pm

No recipe today, but I do have pictures! My Mom taught me how to make pickles today with some cucumbers from her garden. You’re supposed to wait 4-6 weeks before eating them, but I couldn’t wait so I opened one  jar tonight and sampled them. They are already very yummy… I don’t know if they will last that long!

Homemade Bread

I got a great cookbook for Christmas, Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois. Here is a picture of the first loaf I made from the book, a rustic peasant loaf. It was really good, and easy to do. I highly recommend this book!

Sushi!
Posted on August 3rd, 2008 @ 1:32 pm

I made sushi for dinner last night, so I thought I’d share some pictures and sushi info.  Sushi is a lot of fun to make, and you can put whatever you want in it, so everyone can find a type of sushi that they like.  No recipe for this post, but other than a recipe for sushi rice, you don’t really need one.  There are lots of cookbooks that have a recipe for sushi rice, so go find one you like and make some sushi!

Here’s what I put in my sushi last night: carrots, cucumber, avacado, radish sprouts, and some mock tuna salad.  Other yummy sushi fillings are daikon, tempura vegetables, baked or fried tofu, rice noodles, and even soy cream cheese.  Mix and match to make different combos and eat up!
