Carob Brownies
Rich, thick, chewy brownies without any caffeine! This is a great recipe to make for anyone you know that's watching their caffeine intake. So, if you know someone who loves chocolate, but can't have it, why not whip up a batch of these and share with them. I guarantee that you'll make their day.
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup carob powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
- powdered sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease 9-inch square baking pan.
- In medium bowl, stir together butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add eggs, and mix well.
- In separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Stir together with wire whisk. Gradually add to butter mixture and stir until well blended.
- Stir in chopped nuts, if using.
- Spread batter into prepared pan and bake for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Let cool, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Cut into squares and serve.
